On September 29, 2015, U. S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, recognized F. J. Scott Elementary as a National Blue Ribbon School (Exemplary High Performing School). Currently, there are over 8,000 elementary schools in Texas. F.J. Scott was 1 out of 12 elementary schools from Texas that were selected. A total of 335 schools across the nation were designated as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2015 and will maintain National Blue Ribbon Status for the next five years.
F. J. Scott Elementary was named a 2015 Texas Honor Roll with special STEM designation for achievement in math and science by the Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education for demonstrating consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps.
Students at F. J. Scott Elementary earned a total of 17,007 points in the Accelerated Reader Program. AR stimulates student learning, inspires a love for reading, promotes growth in literacy and critical thinking skills, and encourages parental involvement.
F. J. Scott Elementary received 1st place recognition from Chili's for their participation in helping raise funds for St. Jude's Research Hospital.
Our Starr County Academic Participants placed in Writing, Math, and Spelling. The Starr County Academic Round Up helps develop responsible, empathetic, problem solvers who will be great leaders of the 21st century.
F. J. Scott Elementary cares and participates in Character/ Leadership/Team/Champion building activities such as Jump Rope for Heart, Walk for Diabetes, and Student Council.
F. J. Scott Elementary placed 1st at the 2016 Roma Fest.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
As a principal of F.J. Scott Elementary, my mission is to facilitate and maximize learning opportunities by providing a positive, safe, and nurturing environment, where all students and staff members can and will excel. Our goal at F.J. Scott Elementary is to empower students to become self-directed, well-rounded, lifelong learners, with a drive to always “Aim High”.
